A Our online Availability charts show when each holiday cottage is booked. You will find these on the accommodation pages (Owl's Nest, Penny Wagtail, Wren's Rest and Bed & Breakfast). Red dates mean confirmed bookings for that night, whereas green indicates a provisional booking (which for various reasons may possibly still be available). White means the accommodation is free for that night and available to book online.
Q Is there a fixed day of arrival/departure and length of stay?
A Self-catering holiday cottages are also completely flexible with no fixed arrival or departure day, subject only to a minimum 3 night stay. Prices are by the day with very generous discounts for a week or more's stay. See the individual pages for Owl's Nest, Penny Wagtail and Wren's Rest for details.
Q Can I rely on the availability charts to be accurate?
A Absolutely. Our website is database-driven and automated so that as soon as a booking is received it appears as provisional (green) on the charts. This stops anyone else booking the same period.
However, if we appear to be full and one or more bookings show as provisional (green), even though you cannot book online it is worthwhile emailing us to enquire, as sometimes such bookings may be flexible (e.g. family or friends coming to stay whom we may be able to reschedule or accommodate elsewhere, etc).
Q How do I book Self-catering?
A Use the Book Online link to do this. It's very simple - just enter your arrival date, number of nights you wish to stay and number of persons in your party.
The response will be to show whether accommodation is free and if so a total price for your stay.
Clicking Book Now! takes you to the next stage of entering your email address, other contact details, and how you wish to pay your deposit.
Be especially careful to enter your email address correctly as we may not be able to contact you otherwise.
Clicking Proceed on the Confirmation page is the final essential step and you will then proceed to the PayPal website to pay your deposit. A full booking confirmation will have been emailed to you at this stage.
We will also accept payment of your deposit by cheque. Your booking confirmation will contain details.
Q How do I know my online booking has been received?
A You will receive a Booking Confirmation email with full confirmation details, including deposit payment instructions, within a few minutes of completing your booking. If you do not, something has gone wrong and you should use the Contact Us link right away to tell us, together with your booking details.
Q How do I pay my deposit?
A Deposits (of £100, or the full amount if within 28 days of arrival) may be made via the PayPal secure payments system, which accepts most credit/debit cards as well as PayPal accounts.
If your arrival is imminent (i.e. a late booking) the entire amount may be payable on arrival.
Full details will be in your Booking Confirmation email.
Q How do I pay the balance?
A Balances become due four weeks prior to arrival and are payable by PayPal or major credit/debit card (via PayPal's secure website). We will send you an email about a week before the due date with details, including a link to our PayPal payment page. Cheques and Internet or International Bank Transfers are also accepted.
Q What if I have to cancel after paying my deposit or balance? (refund policy)
A Deposits and balances are not refundable, except at our discretion if the accommodation is relet after cancellation. We recommend that you take out appropriate travel insurance to protect against cancellation on your part.
Q Are linen and towels provided?
A Yes. We change linen on a weekly basis and towels more frequently if required.
Q What are arrival and departure times?
A The accommodation will be ready after 4pm on the day of arrival. On departure accommodation must be vacated by 10am.
